Follow Friday is a weekly event hosted by Parajunkee & Alison of Alison Can Read.
This week's question is:
If you could write yourself a part in a book, what book would it be and what role would you play in that book?
If you could write yourself a part in a book, what book would it be and what role would you play in that book?
After some consideration, I think I would write myself into a YA contemporary or paranormal series, possibly dystopian (although my luck I'd be the first in the series to get killed off) but NOT as the leading character. Every one should want to be the leading lady, right? Not me. I am far happier in the backseat making snarky and sarcastic comments. I would much prefer to be the comedic best friend that pops up at all the right times and knows exactly what to say.
If I had to pick one book/series I would have to go with The Demon Trappers series by Jana Oliver.* Riley Blackthorn is surrounded by entirely too much testosterone. She needs a gal-pal to help her navigate some of her choices and to make her laugh. How can you talk to boys about your main squeeze? Awkward! Any who, that is who I would like to play.
Are you the funny best friend, awesome lead character, fearless guide, or the voice of reason? Let me hear from you!

*Can you tell I really like this series?
Here for FF. :) I own Demon Trappers and just haven't gotten the chance to read it yet. It just got bumped up on the TBR list. Happy Friday.

Hi
ReplyDeleteJust hopping by and following through.
I'd much rather be a sidekick than a heroine as well

Hello! New follower here. :D
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't want to be the lead character either - way too much responsibility usually! Hehe. Background characters usually get all the best lines anyway. :-))
Please check out my follow friday post when you get a chance:

Have a fantastic weekend!
I want to be a lead character, that's always my dream! But I am really impressed by your choice. And you picked just a great book for that! I like Riley and she has lots of boys around but no girl friend! You'll be a great pal to her I bet!
ReplyDeleteHere's my Follow Friday and TGIF!

I completely agree, I'd love to do the sarcastic comments in a book too, hahaha.
ReplyDeleteOMG! The perfect choice! I completely love Lestat (and Stuart Townsend's interpretation of it was great!). I think I need to re-read the book soon.
I'm a new follower and this is my Follow Friday. Feel free to pass by and have a look and if you like it consider following me back ;)
Hugs,
Alaiel
I'm that one with a hero complex, but I think you would actually be a hero to Riley, from what her situation is
ReplyDeletePS: I'm a new follower! Please check out my post, where I desperately want to be written into GONE WITH THE WIND. Thanks!
Happy Friday! I'm a new follower :)
ReplyDeleteGreat answer! Everyone loves the comic relief in books :) I've never read The Demon Trappers series, but I would like to be a kick-butt kind of character!

Interesting heroine to pick. A good one. Something different and original. New follower. Come visit me over at Livre De Amour-Books of Love Blog.
ReplyDeleteNew follower hopping through! I haven't heard of the series you mentioned, but I agree with not being the main character. I'd rather be a secondary character.
ReplyDeleteHave a good weekend!

Hey, new follower here! :) I really like your answer. Sometimes the awesome characters are the ones who don't get much screen (page?) time.
ReplyDeleteI'm totally not heroine material. I think I'm more fitting as the gal pal. :D I could make inappropriate comments as attempts to bring levity to dark situations...
