Follow Friday (3)

Follow Friday is a weekly event hosted by Parajunkee & Alison of Alison Can Read.
If you'd like to join in on the hop and follow, head to either of the above pages and follow the directions.

This week's feature question is:

In books like the Sookie Stackhouse (True Blood) series the paranormal creature in question "comes out of the closet" and makes itself known to the world.  Which mythical creature do you wish would come out of the closet, for real?

Well I had to give some thought to this one and I would have to say dragons and fire lizards but specifically those from the Pern novels by Anne McCaffrey.  Nothing would be greater than to be a Dragon Rider fighting thread and I would love the chance to belong to a fire lizard (sort of like cats own you).  The dragons and their small cousins in this world are not hostile and were created for beneficial reasons, therefore they would not pose a threat of violence.

The brilliant Rowena Morrill is responsible for this cover and many others for Anne's books.

What creature would you like to see in person?

Follow Friday (2)

Follow Friday is a weekly event hosted by Parajunkee & Alison of Alison Can Read.
This week's question is:

If you could write yourself a part in a book, what book would it be and what role would you play in that book?

After some consideration, I think I would write myself into a YA contemporary or paranormal series, possibly dystopian (although my luck I'd be the first in the series to get killed off) but NOT as the leading character.  Every one should want to be the leading lady, right?  Not me.  I am far happier in the backseat making snarky and sarcastic comments.  I would much prefer to be the comedic best friend that pops up at all the right times and knows exactly what to say.

If I had to pick one book/series I would have to go with The Demon Trappers series by Jana Oliver.*  Riley Blackthorn is surrounded by entirely too much testosterone.  She needs a gal-pal to help her navigate some of her choices and to make her laugh.  How can you talk to boys about your main squeeze?  Awkward!  Any who, that is who I would like to play.

Are you the funny best friend, awesome lead character, fearless guide, or the voice of reason?  Let me hear from you!

*Can you tell I really like this series?

Follow Friday (1)

This week's question:

How have your your reading habits changed since you were a teen?

My reading habits have changed very little since I was teen in terms of content.  However, I have been reading more paranormal fiction and have recently been reading more young adult series than I did when I was younger, ironically enough.  My parents did not feel they had to censor my reading content and so I was able to read from a wide range of topics and genres.  I read a lot of fantasy and some classic literature.  The people I went to elementary school with made fun of me for reading a lot in my spare time and now I have found like-minded people and know that I am apparently not as strange as I was made to think.

I'd love to hear about how your habits have changed!
